Traditional post methods of keying, tracking and compositing, simply take too long and cost too much. The simple process of viewing full visual effects shots including 3D models & environments, moving and static plates, computer animation and motion capture elements while you shoot your live action green screen elements can make a huge difference in production. With Studio20’s workflow, it is possible to visualise and to record in real time a green-screen sequence and simultaneously add a virtual 3D setting without resorting to the usual methods of tracking and compositing, then to keep any of those frames and datas through the post-production process, in less time and at lower cost.

In order to get the correct distortion of each lens and apply it in real-time to the backgrounds during the shot, it’s necessary to calibrate lenses previously to the shooting. Once on shooting, the system will collect the lens data either from the follow focus or directly from encoder systems like Arri LDS or Panasonic and Fujinon servo lenses, and apply it in real-time to the take.
No matter if you camera is handheld, on a Steadicam, dolly, jib, or Technocrane.
Components on camera
The fusion of the Intersense IS1200 optical tracking camera and an electronic gyro provides tracking for the broadest range of shots.
In order the camera to be referenced to the virtual space, so the background follows camera movements, we use the tracking constellation. This new way of tracking gives us great benefits:

OUTPUTS AND METADATA
A portable CPU with the latest technology on graphic processing gets all the information from camera and lenses and integratesit in real-time with the background,
providing independent outputs from Matte, Background and Composite with embedded audio and Timecode Sync.
In order the give the background a realistic look, photos, video and 3D Photogrametry technics will be used to bring virtual sets to live. Supporting multiple 4K / HD video layers and 3D scenes over the FBX standard we will help you to build your virtual environment on an optimize and efficient way.
Using Photogrametry technics, we will bring your real location to set. Working with standard Fbx files and powerful Cgfx shaders we will bring realtime 3D render into your shooting.
VIDEO PLATES BACKGROUND
The inclusion of real video plates (4K / HD) on your built set, will give an extra value over the traditional backlot,
giving more quality and movement to your sets.
CG CHARACTERS & MOTION CAPTURE
As we can incorporate 3D elements into our background over the Fbx standard, we could add to our scene CG Characters and combine them with realtime Mocap.
TRAVELLING CAMERA CAR
Shooting camera-car has never been so easy. Take your camera-car shot into the set on a 360° environment over control, with new possibilities to move the camera and no limits from daylight, weather conditions, or location permits. DOP can play with the shadows giving better integration with the background, as the actors can see the front camera as if they were on a simulator, getting better feedback on the acting.
